ASX Accident Report

A 43-year-old male pilot was killed when his Ducreux-Foulon ARS 300 aerobatic aircraft, registered F-PDCF, crashed near Velleron in southeastern France. The flight had departed from Avignon on the morning of Wednesday, 16 July 2025, with a planned destination of Le Castellet. The pilot, a local resident of Velleron and reportedly experienced, was flying solo. At approximately 08:39 local time, emergency services received reports of an aircraft accident. The aircraft came down in a field in the locality known as “La Jardine,” situated west of the town center.

The wreckage was discovered largely intact but heavily damaged from the impact. There were no other individuals on board, no reported injuries on the ground, and no immediate threat of fire or environmental contamination. Emergency responders included the gendarmerie, air police, local firefighters, and a forensic identification technician from Avignon. The Carpentras public prosecutor also visited the crash site. Initial observations indicated no signs of mid-air breakup or explosion, and the area was secured pending further analysis.

At the time of reporting, the exact cause of the crash remained undetermined. Investigators from the French civil aviation authority (BEA) have launched an inquiry to evaluate potential mechanical failure, pilot error, or other contributing factors. Local sources did not report any adverse weather conditions in the area, and the flight profile—an aerobatic-capable light sport aircraft on a routine point-to-point trip—did not suggest inherently hazardous intent. Data from the aircraft’s maintenance records and possible onboard GPS or telemetry systems will be critical in reconstructing the final moments before impact.
